Sony and the World Photography Organization are expanding the Sony World Photography Awards program with a new category: the European Student Award.
The competition is open to photography students from across Europe, offering them the opportunity to showcase their work on an international stage and advance their careers.
Students enrolled in accredited photography courses are eligible to participate. They can now submit their best work for a chance to secure a place in the European Student Award at the 2026 Sony World Photography Awards. The winner will receive high-quality Sony camera equipment as well as an unforgettable day in London filled with workshops and exclusive networking opportunities.
“We are delighted to launch this award to support emerging talent in Europe and provide students with another platform to express their vision. Photography is a powerful medium, and we want to equip young creatives with the tools, mentorship, and recognition they deserve,” says Pierrick Masson, Head of Consumer Marketing, Sony Imaging and Solutions Europe.
This year’s competition theme is “Together.” Participants are invited to submit a series of five to ten images that creatively explore this concept.
Togetherness can take many meanings, shapes and forms. It is a subject rich for exploration. Throughout history photographers have looked at life in communities in both the human and the natural world, considering the ways that individuals exist as members of a group.
For this year’s brief, we invite students to explore the theme of togetherness from any angle they choose, looking at the concept in its broadest sense. From intimate stories of camaraderie, to big and small communities working towards shared goals, to places and spaces that bring us together, and patterns of connection in the natural world – we invite you to consider the innate need for sociality in all living beings.
Your images can be taken on any device, shot in any style, and approached from any angle you feel is best. While creative responses are encouraged, photographers must stick to the brief.
